We are UAW Local 383, We represent the men and women of the Robert Bosch Braking Systems plant in St. Joseph Michigan.
The purpose of this web page is to get information to our current and retired members as soon as possible. My trip to black lake lupa conference revealed the much needed opportunity to start a web page that could reach our members simply by logging on. It was a great idea backed by the executive board. We did a cost analysis and realized it would get information out at little cost. Our next task was to find someone who could create and maintain the web-page at no cost to the local and strictly on a volunteer basis. We approached many members with the knowledge, but would not take on such a huge task without compensation. We were very fortunate to have Creight Smith dept 45 accept this task. He has done countless hours of work for our union virtually unnoticed. Creight's work on this web site has made it much easier for our members to find out and keep in touch with the union and changes imposed on us by the company. The links that Creight has added are extremely helpful and very popular among our web surfing members. Those who don’t own or know any basic computer have shared stories about a spouse ,child, or friend who has shared or helped access much needed information for them.
Our site has had thousands of visits, which means many members are using this medium to stay informed.
I would like to thank the membership for sending me to the lupa conference in 2006, but our biggest thanks goes to Creight Smith ''Webmaster'' for actually making it all happen. In the future we hope to keep refining this website and keeping it alive, any questions, or comments about our local 383 web page, feel free to contact myself or the webmaster.
